Interior Shopping Awards :
At the 2008 Interior Design Awards on 11 April, the Queensland Brain Institute (OBI) was praised as “A mission of international standing where the interior resolution is a gorgeous extension of its architecture”.
The awards, which examine protocols set by the International Federation of Interior Architects/Interior Designers, were given to
OBI design project team – John Wardle Architects and Wilson Architects.
The judging panel compliment QBI’s interior surroundings, describing it as “seamless in relation to its exterior” with open places that are “robust with cautiously selected and designed elements”.
The project, they believed, resulted in an interior that shaped a confidently designed environment that did not attempt to conceal its laboratory spaces, but celebrated their presence by displaying them proudly.
The project was commended in two categories: Best of State QLD − Commercial Interior; and Public/Institutional Interior Design. Entry photography was by Christopher Jones.
